Ian Lovatt aka Ghostcopy is a Brighton-based music producer and songwriter best known for developing and working with artists such as Jess Glynne, Callum Scott, and HRVY.

Growing up in Derby he cut his teeth playing in local bands from the age of 16 before moving to London aged 20 to join a band called ‘The Great Divide’. They shared their manager with a talented Zimbabwean singer called Rozalla who Ian went on to MD and play guitar for. Their successful partnership created a fruitful spell working together, boasting live tours with Salt-N-Pepa, Alexandra O’Neil, Kris Kross and eventually supporting Michael Jackson on his 'Dangerous' world tour.

After the Michael Jackson tour, Ian signed his own band ‘Launch’ to Universal/PLR, releasing three EP’s, five singles and an album titled ‘Back To Abnormal’. The band toured with Rock and Pop royalty -  Simple Minds and The Wildhearts before changing their name to The Superbs and signing to The Bluetones' Superior Quality Records imprint for further commercial releases whilst touring extensively around the UK.

Life after The Superbs was spent working on an Arthur Baker project with Ian Button, (guitarist of Death in Vegas) which took the band from London to LA. The band split and in 2000 Ian set up a studio in Battersea to concentrate solely on music production, releasing records with The Ministry of Sound, Defected, Junior Jack and ATFC to name but a few.

In 2015 Ian signed a publishing deal with Janee Bennett and Bless Beats, Ragamuffin Music and Bucks Music Corp, who he met through working with Jess Glynne.

He co-produced and co-wrote HRVY’s hugely successful 2017 debut single - ‘Holiday (feat. Redfoo)’.  At pre-release the track went into the top 10 around the world on iTunes and was #1 on the Spotify viral playlist, forming a solid foundation for the artist to launch his career. Online success has continued in 2019 with another pre-release video clip gaining over 1,000,000 views on Twitter for a current release with Sam Tompkins titled 'Follow Suit’.

Contributing to multiple chart-topping tracks and establishing himself as a go-to producer for modern music, Ian enjoys a reputation as one of the most sought-after producers and songwriters in the UK today.

Not one to rest on his laurels, he remains dedicated to spending his time furthering his skills and craft as a producer, continuing to work with household names and developing new as of yet undiscovered musical talent.
